Entrance exams, Admission and Enrolment procedures
Entry conditions
To apply to sit the entrance exam at CIDO Saint-Étienne, candidates must :
- be aged 18 or over during the current academic year
- hold a baccalauréat qualification or be enrolled in the last year
of school, prior to sitting this examination
- complete the registration forms for the entrance exams and
- Respect the final registration date : 15th March 2012
- Attach a cheque for 150 € made payable to CIDO Saint-Etienne to cover enrolment and examination fees.
Once CIDO Saint Etienne has received the complete, signed enrolment dossier, the dossier is studied and if the candidate meets the entry requirements then he or she will be informed of the place, date and time of the entrance exams.
Dates
Written examinations will take place on the 30th March 2012.
Each candidate will also be interviewed. These will take place :
- The 31th March 2012 for candidates residing outside the Rhône-Alpes region.
- During the week from the 2nd – 7th April 2012 for those residing within the Rhône-Alpes region.
A second examination date is planned for the 29th May 2012 and for these candidates the individual interviews will take place 30th May to 2nd June 2012. The final enrolment date for this second examination session is the 15th May 2012.
Whatever the circumstances, a candidate can only apply to take a single entrance exam in any one year.
50 firm offers of a place will be made following the first and 20
firm offers made after the second examination sessions.
Entrance examination
The
protocol for applying for a place at CIDO Saint-Étienne includes a
written
examination and an interview. 
The written tests determine whether or not a candidate is admissible. These take place over a half-day and cover the areas of physics, chemistry, and biology. There are also psychotechnical tests and a brief essay.
The interview is held with a member of CIDO Saint-Etienne’s teaching staff.
Individual interviews
Candidates who have been successful in the written tests will be
interviewed by a member of the CIDO’s teaching staff for twenty to
thirty minutes. Following these interviews a committee draws up their
list of candidates who will immediately be offered a place and a
waiting list.
Classification/Grading
In order to offer equal opportunities whatever the educational history (final year school students, PACES and those with more advanced paramedical knowledge) and so constitute a year intake that is well balanced, it has been decided to offer a number of places proportional to the number of candidates with each of these profiles :
- Profile 1 : Paramedical preparatory studies
- Profile 2 : PACES (first year general medical),
- Profile 3 : School leavers, adults desiring a career change, others.
Candidates are graded within their respective group from their résults in the written examinations. The best candidates in each group will be called for interview.
Results and Enrolment at CIDO Saint-Étienne
After the interviews following each examination session, the CIDO Saint-Étienne rapidly sends out letters confirming a place at the school. Once the letter has been received the candidate must accept the place within 5 days by registered letter. If the place is not taken up then candidates on the waiting list will be offered places as they become available.
Transfer of files IdHEO Nantes, COP Marseille
Any candidate accepted for interview at a school (IdHEO Nantes or COP Marseille) can request that his file be transferred to another school (IdHEO Nantes, COP Marseille or CIDO St Etienne) of his choice, as long as the final decision has not been made in that school. After studying the dossier, the candidate may be invited for interview at the CIDO. In this case, he will be required to provide a cheque for 50€ payable to CIDO Saint-Étienne to cover costs.
